Youth Formation at Saint John’s

Where belonging fosters spiritual growth.

Through fun and reflective programming, we bring students together to cultivate relationships with God and one another.

Opportunities for Youth Formation

While youth group is the core touch point throughout the week, our teens will find a number of opportunities throughout the year to engage in service, to explore the world around them, to make meaning of life, and to seek God in all things. Our community is LGBTQA+ affirming and welcomes youth at all stages of questioning and faith.

Youth Group for grades 6 through 12

Sundays at 9:15 am

With a focus on building a supportive peer community, we seek to help one another navigate the challenges of middle and high school. With the support of a dedicated Youth Minister and caring adults, youth explore how they see themselves within the stories of the Bible, and they are also encouraged to openly explore faith and doubt in a safe and welcoming environment.

Confirmation

Saint John’s invites any high schoolers to participate in the sacrament of confirmation through a six-week course. This class aims to comprehensively teach youth about what it means to have an Episcopal identity in the modern world.

Confirmation class is offered during the season of Lent, please email dennie@sjcathedral.org.

Summer Activities

Saint John’s is proud to partner with diocesan ministries that make a youth’s summer the best part of their year!

  • Young Episcopalians in Service offers two weeklong trips in June and July for middle schoolers and high schoolers seeking meaningful adventures.
  • Cathedral Ridge is a second home to many of our participants and offers sleep away camps throughout the month of July.
