Music
Music at Saint John’s Cathedral has been an integral part of worship in this sacred space for over 140 years. The hymns, Psalms, and anthems sung each week serve as a musical compliment to the liturgy.

A Variety of Musical Styles
When at Saint John’s, you will hear a variety of musical styles including Gregorian Chant, Renaissance Motets, Spirituals, Gospel, and a host of other styles representative of the breadth of diversity found in the Episcopal Church. Our focus is to offer music of the highest quality to the glory of God in the context of liturgy and prayer.

Evensong
This ancient service of Evening Prayer is offered in the style of the English Cathedral Choral Tradition taken from the Book of Common Prayer. Amidst the sweet smell of incense in our Gothic cathedral, Psalms, scripture readings, canticles, anthems, hymns, and prayers are offered to God at the close of the day.
