Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Join us at Saint John’s as we gather to give thanks, serve our community, and celebrate the many blessings of our life together. From opportunities to put our gratitude into action through service, worship on Thanksgiving morning, and the beauty of Choral Evensong, we hope you’ll join us as we pause, reflect, and give thanks this season. Below we’ve highlighted a few of the many ways you can engage this November with our cathedral community.
Second Saturday Serve
Saturday, November 14 at 9 am
We strive to serve our Denver community and make an impact in our city. Faith in Action is offering volunteer opportunities on the second Saturday of the month at various partner organizations and grant recipients. For the month of November, we will be serving at Second Chance Center from 9 am – 12 pm.
Parish Work Day
Each December our cathedral campus welcomes thousands of people from across Denver and around the country who gather to pray, sing, and worship. Supporting all of this is our hard working facilities team and dedicated volunteers who keep our spaces clean and welcoming. And we need your support!
Choral Evensong
Sunday, November 15 at 3 pm in the cathedral nave
Scripture, canticles, anthems, hymns, and prayers are offered to God through the ancient service of Evening Prayer. As you give thanks this season, take a moment to pause and be renewed by the beauty of our Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dr. Michael Boney.
Thanksgiving Day Choral Eucharist
Thursday, November 26 at 10:30 am in the cathedral nave
Whether it’s been your tradition for years, or you are looking to start a new one, all are welcome for Holy Eucharist in celebration of Thanksgiving Day. This service will also be live streamed for those across the diocese who may not have a serve to join at their own parish.
Giving Trees
As Advent nears, we are reminded of those who are experiencing homelessness, poverty, marginalization, and loneliness in our community. You will notice giving trees added in the Narthex, Memorial Hall, and Welcome Center. Please select an ornament and return your gifts beneath the trees by Sunday, December 13. Do not gift wrap, but please do attach the ornament to your items so we know to which organization the gift is intended. We invite you to give as you are able this holiday season to help those in need in our larger community.
