Dean Richard will begin with the story of creation in Genesis 1, before covering the story of Cain and Abel in the second Bible study, and then Joseph and his brothers in the third. As the novelist Marilynne Robinson has written in light of these stories, “Love and grief are, in this infinite Creation, things of the kind we share with God.” Using Robinson’s new commentary on Genesis as our companion, Dean Richard will walk us through the details of these foundational Biblical stories before asking participants to reflect on how our own personal stories relate to these themes.
