Young people across Denver’s marginalized communities too often grow up without the chance to develop a sense of self or any guidance for healthy processing of emotions like anger, despair, or grief. Dr. Halim Ali, a former gang member who was shot at the age of 20, is now the founder and executive director of From The Heart Enterprises, which offers a comprehensive program of mental health services to youth as well as adults and children across the metro area.
