Finding Solace in the Soil at Amache Internment Camp

February 19 marks the National Day of Remembrance of Executive Order 9066, which incarcerated over 100,000 Japanese Americans at internment camps, including Amache in southeastern Colorado. In her book, Finding Solace in the Soil: An Archaeology of Gardens and Gardeners at Amache, Bonnie Clark explores how the imprisoned people of Amache cultivated community while coaxing life from the inhospitable land of their military setting. Join Bonnie to hear the stories of the people of Amache as well as her stories of anthropological and archaeological exploration, including previews of her second edition of Finding Solace in the Soil.
