The Cathedral Choir
The Saint John’s Cathedral Choir is comprised mostly of volunteers and includes twelve paid singers known as the Vicars Choral. The choir provides music for the 10:30 am service, monthly Choral Evensong, diocesan services, and other special events throughout the year. The choir sings a wide variety of choral music ranging from the early Renaissance period to the 21st Century, and rehearses each Thursday from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the choir, have experience reading music, can match pitch, and commit to the choir schedule, please consider joining us. For more information contact Dr. Michael Boney at .
The Cathedral Choristers
The Cathedral Choristers (Treble Choir and Novices) consists of boys and girls beginning at age 7. Boys sing until their voices lower and are then coached to sing alto, tenor or bass. The Trebles sing weekly at the 10:30 am service and rehearse Wednesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Choristers are coached in music theory and voice. Singers new to the choir or who have limited experience singing begin as Novices, where they will gain the skills necessary to advance to the Treble Choir.
The Choristers' Schedule
The Treble Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm and Sundays at 9:30 am; they sing at the 10:30 am Sunday Eucharist, except on the third Sunday of the month.
