About the Archives
Saint John’s Cathedral’s Archives contain the recorded history of the Church and the Cathedral of Saint John in the Wilderness, from our beginnings in 1860 to the present. The archives are themselves part of Saint John’s history, organized in 1968 by Louisa Ward Arps, parish member and local author. Among the plethora of materials are baptism, confirmation, marriage, and burial records, vestry and committee meeting minutes, Orders of Service, letters and papers, construction plans, our photo collection spanning 160 years, memorial gifts, our history of social engagement, and many other records of our 163 years thus far.

Mission
The archivist and those who work diligently in the archives week to week are tasked with preserving and conserving our historical records and photographs; adding new records to perpetuate our documentation of Saint John’s life and history; and working to make our records and history available to those doing research, as well as those who have been a part of that history. Preserving, curating, and sharing our history make up the mission of Saint John’s Cathedral’s archives.
