Fun and Fellowship

There are many ways to join in the fun at Saint John's Cathedral. We are a large parish but there are many smaller communities here. We have ongoing groups that meet monthly and always welcome new members. We have many one-time activities which take place either at the Cathedral or in members homes.

Seasonal Home Suppers

During Lent and Easter, and in the fall, various members of the parish host suppers in their homes. These are wonderful opportunities for an evening of fellowship and reflection. Most evenings begin at 6 pm with worship. The evenings especially for families with children begin at 5 pm.

Feast Friends

Feast Friends is a monthly dinner party for singles and couples. The group meets seven times a year in different homes each month, and the guest lists are shuffled each time so that participants meet as many people as possible. Members are asked to host once during the year. Dinner parties include eight to ten guests.

Men of Saint John's

The men of Saint John's gather for fellowship, prayer and service. A recent project for the Men of Saint John's was re-painting the fire escape outside the Dagwell wing of the Cathedral complex. For Advent the Men of Saint John's are exploring the spirituality of Joseph in a lunchtime group. They are also planning future men's retreats. To become involved and learn more, contact David Abbott.

Saint Martha's Guild

Saint Martha's Guild was organized by Dean Paul Roberts in 1936, with the purpose of creating closer relationships among women within Saint John's large congregation. Women have been meeting since then for dessert and a program at 1 pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month, September through April.

Break a Leg Theater Group

All are invited to participate in the Break a Leg Readers Theater to read plays together (or just listen if you prefer). The Break a Leg Players meet every third Monday in people's homes or at the cathedral.

Saint John's Fathers

Saint John's Fathers meet every Tuesday at noon in the Common Room. Fathers meet to explore ways of incorporating spirituality into the many roles of being a father. Bring a bag lunch and join this ongoing group. For more information contact Gordon Appell.

Garden Committee

If you like to putter in the garden, this group is for you. This committee tends the cathedral's beautiful gardens of the cathedral, planting bulbs and perennials in addition to ongoing weeding and watering. To get your hands in the dirt, contact Canon Movesian.
