Visiting the Cathedral

We are always glad to welcome visitors to Saint John's. The Cathedral space is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Sometimes funerals, rehearsals or other activities will mean that the Cathedral is not available for visiting or prayer for periods of time during the day.

Please use the Welcome Center entrance at 1350 Washington Street, as the great north doors of the Cathedral on 14th Avenue are usually closed during the week.

Individual guided tours are not available during the week, but everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the splendor of our Gothic space, and to take time to pray, contemplate, and be still with God.

Public Tours of the Cathedral on Sundays

During the summer months there is a guided tour of the Cathedral and complex on a Sunday following the 10:00 am morning service. The tour begins at about 11:20 am.

From September 16, 2012 through May 19, 2013, the Sunday tour takes place following the 11:15 am service beginning at about 12:40 pm. There are a few Sundays in the September - May season when tours will not take place. In particular, Palm Sunday, Easter Day and the Kirkin o' the Tartan Sunday in early May.

Please gather at the 'Guided Tour' sign in the Narthex (north porch) of the Cathedral after the service, where the Guide will greet you.

Please call 303-831-7115 or e-mail Calendar@cathedral.org to check specific dates.

Pre-arranged Group Tours

We are always pleased to welcome groups to see our beautiful Gothic Cathedral. We have a small team of knowledgeable and interesting volunteers who give of their time to lead guided tours.

If you would like to bring a group to the Cathedral please give us at least two weeks notice, so that we can arrange to schedule a volunteer. Sometimes our volunteers have limited availability, so it is always helpful if you can offer more than one date and time possibility.

Please call 303-831-7115 or e-mail Calendar@sjcathedral.org to arrange a tour.
