Saint John's Cathedral Choir School
For children and youth, our choir program provides instruction in the basics of music theory, performance and history. There are significant opportunities for meeting challenges in a loving, team-oriented environment, and the privilege and responsibility of leading God's praises in public worship. Through a structured program affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in America, our singers learn to appreciate the value of achieving short- and long-range goals both individually and collectively. They sing some of the greatest pieces of sacred music ever written, and receive early opportunities for social interaction within the parish and the broader church. Those who achieve higher levels in the RSCM music study program also receive a stipend for their services in the choir.
The Saint Cecilia Girl Choir and The Saint Nicolas Boy Choir are choirs for choristers fourth grade and up. They rehearse on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. Members of the Saint Cecilia and Saint Nicolas choirs with a dark blue ribbon or higher are invited to attend the Wednesday rehearsal above and the Thursday Cathedral (Adult) Choir rehearsal from 7:00 to 8:15 pm. These choirs sing weekly at the 9:00 am Sunday service during the school year.
Probationers are less-experienced members of the St. Cecilia and St. Nicolas choirs, generally in second or third grade. This choir rehearses on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:15 pm, and on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Probationers sing weekly at the 9:00 am Sunday service during the school year.
The Saint David Choir is for children ages 5 through first grade. This choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:10 p.m. and sings approximately monthly at the 9:00 am Sunday service during the school year.

A Chorister's Prayer
Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants
who minister in Thy temple.
Grant that what we sing with our lips,
we may believe in our hearts,
and what we believe in our hearts,
we may show forth in our lives.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Please email the Music Department at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
