Leadership and Governance

The mission of Saint John's Cathedral is to know Christ and to make Christ known. Everything we do is done so that we may share Christ with others and find Christ in them.

The Right Reverend Robert O'Neill is the Bishop of Colorado, the spiritual leader of the Episcopal Church in Colorado. Saint John's is the home of the cathedra, the Bishop's ceremonial seat.

The Very Reverend Peter Eaton is the Rector and Dean of the Cathedral. As Rector, he leads the parish congregation. As Dean, he represents our Cathedral's ministry to the city and beyond.

The Dean and three additional clergy share in leading worship, preaching, teaching and caring for our congregation. In addition to clergy, our staff includes a highly-committed group of lay professionals and support staff.

The Vestry and Ministry Leadership Council are the two central congregational leadership groups in the Cathedral. The Vestry is our governing board. The Ministry Leadership Council coordinates the activities of our many activities, programs and ministry groups. Members of the Vestry and Ministry Leadership Council welcome your comments and suggestions.

Clergy As priests, the clergy of the Cathedral share in preaching, teaching, leading worship services, and providing pastoral care. They also have specific responsibilities over various ministries and programs of the Cathedral.

		Andrew Van Culin, Sub-Dean 303-831-7115, ext. 7721 Drew@sjcathedral.org Office: Parish House, 3rd Floor Drew oversees the daily programmatic, pastoral, and worship life of the Cathedral. He supervises the staff in those areas, and works closely with the Ministry Leadership Council, and the Director of Finance and Operations.

		Rebecca Crummey, Canon Rebecca@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7704 Office: Parish House, 3rd Floor Rebecca works with our community outreach ministries and leads catechumenate and labyrinth ministries.

		Blake Sawicky, Curate Blake@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7731 Office: Parish House, 3rd Floor Blake works with our pastoral care ministry and coordinates social assistance inquiries.

Clergy Administration
		Christine Goodfellow Christine@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7721 Office: Parish House, 3rd Floor Christine provides administrative support to the clergy. She receives inquiries for Baptisms and Weddings. Chris also is the administrator for All Souls' Walk burial space.

Business Office Our Business Office oversees our accounting, payroll and contributions.

Christian Education Department
		Kim McPherson, Director of Religious Education Kim@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7729 Office: Roberts Building, 3rd Floor Kim oversees the work of the Christian Education Department at all levels, from nursery through adult. She is a National Godly Play Trainer.

		Carol Mohr, Administrative Assistant to the Director of Religious Education Carol@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7703 Office: Roberts Building, 2nd Floor Carol supports Kim administratively, enabling all the programs and activities of the Christian Education Department to run smoothly.

Communications Department
		Mike Orr, Director of Communications MikeO@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7730 Office: Parish House, 3rd Floor Mike works with the media to promote Saint John's and draw audiences to the many events held at the Cathedral. He also oversees The Open Door newsletter, E-newsletters, the website and special publications for particular events.

Facilities and Maintenance
		David Porterfield, Facilities and Maintenance Director David@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7015 Office: Roberts Building, Basement David oversees the maintenance of the buildings and maintains our landscaping. He undertakes repairs and liaises with contractors. In the wintertime David ensures that our sidewalks and entrances are cleared of snow.

		Chris Bodden, Calendar Calendar@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7718 Chris maintains the calendar and facilitates meeting requests and subsequent resources for the cathedral.

		Sextons 303-831-7115, ext 7718 Our sextons provide custodial care for the Cathedral and other buildings. They open the buildings in the morning and close them at night, set up our spaces for programs and activities, and ensure the whole facility is clean.

Music Department Our Music Department provides music for our worship services and liturgies. It trains our choirs - adult, youth and children in sacred music. It also provides and promotes concerts at the Cathedral.
		Stephen Tappe, Organist and Director of Music Tappe@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7726 Office: Roberts Building, Devenish Music Suite Stephen oversees all the work of the Music Department and is the principal conductor of the choir. He is also a part of our liturgy planning group.

		Richard Robertson, Organist Richard@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7737 Office: Roberts Building, Devenish Music Suite Richard works part-time and assists Stephen in the work of the Music Department. He conducts and accompanies the choir.

		Abbi Chapman, Music Administrator Abbi@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7717 Office: Roberts Building, Devenish Music Suite Abbi provides administrative support to the Music Department.

Worship Department
		Billy Baker, Worship Coordinator BillyB@sjcathedral.org 303-831-7115, ext. 7708 Office: Parish House, 3rd Floor Billy prepares liturgical bulletins and Sunday bulletins and provides administrative support for all matters relating to worship.
